| About AAA Home Inspections: AAA Home Inspections was founded by myself (Rick Novicki) in 1993 shortly after moving to Hilton Head Island with my wife Roni. During our property quest, our agent recommended that we hire a licensed home inspector and offered us a few choice names of people who were skilled in this profession. We never heard of a home inspector until that time but it certainly sounded like a smart idea, so we did...and that is when it all started. We chose our inspector based on his professional experience but most of all it was about his honesty which I felt when speaking to him on the phone. After I decided to schedule his services, he asked me if I would like to attend the inspection and I thought...why not? During the inspection, he asked me about my previous employment and soon realized that I had a perfect background to become a good home inspector. I did and he was right !! Now, some people call me "Picky Ricky" but I consider myself one of the chief priests from the church of the painful truth. I will never forget what one real estate agent said a few years ago. She said "he provided more than enough information to choke a goat". Oh, by the way, she claimed she was working for the home buyer which she calls "her client" - this should tell you something about them and what I truly stand for. WHO IS REALLY LOOKING OUT FOR YOU ?? THIS INSPECTOR IS AND THAT IS WHY I JOINED "IHINA" INDEPENDENT HOME INSPECTORS OF NORTH AMERICA. In addition, I am one of the founding charter members and current president of Hilton Head Island Association of Home Inspectors "HHIAHI" Job description: We (AAA) perform on-site inspections correlated with the structural, electrical and mechanical aspects of homes, condominiums, commercial / industrial buildings and provide comprehensive written reports outlining significant deficiencies, major damage, potential safety hazards and other areas of concern. My inspection procedure entails a thorough visual observation of electrical systems, plumbing systems, mechanical devices and structural building components such as foundations, frame work and roof systems. Operation and testing of various facilities including heating / cooling systems, saunas, hot tubs, swimming pools, major appliance groups and alike are crucial to the job as well as proper use of testing equipment and analytical instruments. The reporting format is designed and conducted in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice adopted by ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors). An inspection report is carefully prepared for the client (home purchaser) usually within 24 hours of the performed services. The inspection report is provided via fax or email and a hard copy is also mailed to the clients' current address. A true home inspector: It is my opinion, that the qualifications of a true building inspector can only be achieved through intellect, knowledge and foresight of building construction components, systems, “on-the-job- training” & best of all..”hands-on-experience” within the various mechanical trade groups over several years. There are people who believe that the best inspectors are those who are general contractors and I will tell you this; General contractors hire subcontractors to do the work and many times inferior workmanship is at stake because the general contractor does not have the qualifications and "hands-on-experience" to tell the difference between right and wrong. The same goes with engineering degrees. If the person has not had personal "hands-on-experience" with the products pertinent to the assignment,, then the degree is nothing more than just a piece of paper.
